NYC Wedding Dance Lessons

So you are nervous about the first dance at your wedding? Taking dance lessons can ease some of your fears and provide your with the basic skills necessary to awe your audience during your ever so memorable first dance. Or maybe your looking for more then basic lesson. No matter the level of skill your seeking you need to find a studio to help you reach your goal. Finding a studio takes some consideration this guide will insure you find the best studio to fit your needs. Think about what you are looking for in a dance studio, talk to the local dancers you know, make decisions on how far you are willing to travel, call studios, consider your budget, and visit studios and speak with instructors.

Take some time and think about what level of skill you are trying to reach. Do you want basic dance instruction for your first dance only? Is the lesson for you and your spouse only? Will father/daughter dance, or mother/son dance call for a lesson as well? Does your wedding party need a lesson? This step is important. Figuring out what your looking for will help the studio place you in the correct classes.

Talk to dancers you know or friends and family who have taken lessons before. They can give you advise on studios they have went to. They can also help advise you on what classes you should take based on the level of skill you wish to reach. Word of mouth is very powerful. It will help you determine studios that are not for you, and ones that can help aid you.

Decide how far you are wiling to travel. This will narrow down your search. Ask your self is it worth a 45 minute drive or would you rather stay closer to home? Once you have narrowed your choices call the studios. Often you cannot change your work schedule. If they don’t offer classes that you can make it to cross them off your list. When speaking with studios ask a lot of questions and explain exactly what your looking for. They will be able to help you determine if there studio can meet your needs. Narrow down your list by class time and availability. Ask about class sizes. You may not be comfortable with a 20 dancer class, you may want a private lesson.

Don't be discouraged from a studio from there appearance. Many studios aren’t the prettiest establishments. Do not be alarmed. The studios usually invest as much as they can in making great programs rather then waste there budget on making the building pretty. Some of the best studios have the worst appearances. Don’t be turned off by this, try to keep an open mind. You need to consider your budget as well. Speak to the studios to insure you can afford there lessons if you can not then cross them off your list.

One you have a list of about 3-5 studios go visit them. Fell it out. Are the teachers calm and patient or are they strict? You want to feel comfortable in your lessons. Once you have found your favorite studio sign up for your class and enjoy. No need to stress your first dance will be memorable. Remember its okay to make mistakes you do not have to be a professional dancer to deliver a spectacular first dance. There are many amazing studios in New York go check them out!
