NYC Wedding Planners

How do you even go about planning a wedding? If you have never planned a wedding before and there is a good chance that you have not, consider hiring a professional planner that can help you with every little detail and will keep everything on track in terms of your schedule. Take a word of advice here, you will feel much more confident planning your wedding if you have a professional by your side every step of the way. But the key is to find the right person, the right person for you and for your wedding. And there certainly are no shortage of wedding planners in the NYC area. In order to do that, you will want to meet anyone you are considering in person and ask them some pertinent questions. The answers they provide should lead you to the wedding planner that will be perfect for you. With the in mind, here is a guide to hiring the planner that will fulfill all of your dreams.

Obviously, before you even setup a meeting with any potential planner, you will want to call and find out if they have your wedding date open on their calendar. If your date is flexible at this point, ask them for a few options that would work for them and then arrange a meeting. Once you have them in front of you, the first question out of your mouth should be related to their prices. You may even want to ask them if they have a minimum wedding budget that they are willing to work with. To give you a good gauge, wedding planning services should usually cost about 15 percent of your overall budget.

Once you have determined that you can afford them, talk to them about what types of services they can provide. Do they offer full-service planning for the entire wedding, coordination for the day, or can you pick and choose various elements from their menu of services? If you know that there are certain aspects of your wedding that you absolutely want to handle, this would be a great time to discuss that with the potential planner. Ask them if they do both design and coordination or if they specialize in one or the other. This is something you will have to decide in terms of what is more importan6t to you and which you need more.

Do a great deal of talking about their experience. How long have they been doing this? How many weddings have they planned? Preferably, you want someone who has done quite a few weddings. There is no substitute for this because they will have already had to go through figuring out a lot of details and overcoming the pitfalls that a wedding can present. Now, here is a very important question to ask. During the time period that they will be helping you plan your wedding, how many other weddings will they be working on. This might or might not be a problem. Have a frank discussion about whether your planners feel they will be able to provide special attention to you and your plans if they will be working on a number of other weddings at the same time.

Do they have a preferred planner list? If so, do you have to use the vendors on their list and will you receive a discount if you do use those planners. This is one of the advantages of working with your own wedding planner. Will they be handling all of the interaction with your vendors? There are a lot more details to flesh out, but this is a great start and should at least point you in the direction of a preferred wedding planner.
